Shane Barry studied graphic design in London and graduated with distinction from Newham College of Higher Education. Since then, Shane has worked with numerous international brands on both sides of the Atlantic, having developed in the process strong professional and personal roots in New York and also in London.
In 1998, Shane joined Esprit Image and Product Development Limited in London, initially as Graphic Designer. At the time, that division was the global fashion brand's in-house "image office" responsible for ensuring that Esprit's image was rendered consistently all over the world. In connection with Esprit's re-aquisition of the American brand rights, Shane was subsequently transferred in 2003 to New York with the Global Image Director to establish Esprit's new Global Image Office where the company would continue creating and coordinating everything that visually represented Esprit.
Shane later joined Club Monaco, a Polo Ralph Lauren company, in 2005 as the Senior Graphic Designer for the company's global brand identity and image development. In that senior creative role, Shane consolidated Club Monaco's disparate branding activities in the U.S. and Canada and established a unified Creative Services Department in New York to service the company's domestic and growing international business. Critical to Shane's growing roots in New York, Club Monaco also undertook on his behalf an Extraordinary Ability immigrant petition which ultimately secured his U.S. permanent residency in 2007.
In 2008, Shane joined the iconic American brand Liz Claiborne Inc. as Director, Brand and Corporate Image, directly orchestrating the company's creative branding and corporate image objectives across its various lines, including Liz Claiborne New York, Claiborne by John Bartlett, and Monet Jewelry. As Liz Claiborne's overarching image director and brand guardian Shane collaborated with fashion designers Isaac Mizrahi and John Bartlett, as well as numerous leading industry talents.
Subsequently in 2010, Shane worked as Creative Director with Paul Barry Design + Art Direction on numerous high profile projects in the luxury sector, including the rebranding of the De Beers Diamond Jewellery Company. The agency has worked with a prestigious roster of international clientele including Alfred Dunhill, Aquascutum, Burberry, Daks, Damiani, Graff Diamonds, Gucci, JWT New York, Marks & Spencer, Smythson, Peninsula Hotels, Unilever, and more.
In 2018, Shane undertook the strategic creative role of Senior Director, Art Direction at the luxury womenswear brand Lafayette 148 New York. Working closely with the companies Fashion Designer (Creative Director) and executive team, Shane elevated the brand aesthetic and managed a consistent, compelling, image for the boutique womenswear fashion company.
Most recently, Shane launched his own styling service in Fall 2023 and is available for relevant creative consulting projects. He lives and works in Williamsburg, New York.
